The Asteroids Galaxy Tour
Pop Grunge / Denmark
The Danish duo's sound has been called "candy coated funk pop" by Clash Music and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour Band retro-tinged sound has made them a firm live favourite on both sides of the Atlantic.
A two-piece on record - Lars Iversen the main songwriter and producer and vocalist Mette Lindberg - the band extends to a six-piece live with added horn section, guitar and drums. Formed in 2008, the band's breakthrough came later that year. Firstly, they were invited to support Amy Winehouse on tour when she heard their demo and then their song Around the Bend was used in an Apple iPod Touch commercial.
The band's debut album Fruit was released in 2009 and attracted positive reviews. Spin magazine raved that "pretty much every minute of Fruit offers sweet, sticky pleasure" and singles The Sun Ain't Shining No More and Around the Bend are radio favourites.
