Short history

It all started in 1990 when a group of friends decided to organize a musical event on a small part of Crans harbor. The 1st edition was completely free and was a big success. A Saturday in the tropical atmosphere... Caribana is born!

Caribana being friendly and warm, it quickly seduced and increasing number of people and therefore became to small and had to move to the current venue, "Ekbal", in 1995. In 1997, Caribana festival takes a next step by putting up a second stage, innovating with blues music and setting up a shuttle service. In 2001, the number of spectators increases and reaches 18'500 visitors. In 2002, a new record was beaten and 20'000 visitors invaded the venue. In 2005, the festival innovates once again by setting up four evenings of concerts instead of three.

The human dimension of the festival as well as a place of meeting and discussion, Caribana is most of all a festive place where one can meet with friends and relax completely. The festival won two prices of the "guidefestivals.com". The first price was won in 2006 for the best way of greeting spectators & the best organization. In 2007 the festival won for the second time the best organization price.

The festivals first concern is to privilege discoveries to put forward its knowledge of music and the quality of the program. It is often one step ahead of the music trend!

Two open air stages (concerts from 6:30pm to 1am)
"Club" atmosphere, over 10 different DJ's in the festivals bars, each offering a unique decoration and atmosphere:

-    Surf bar : all style
-    Le Caveau : ethno
-    La plage : world music, tropical
-    Bar de la scène : you don't want to miss any of the concerts, it's the place to be.
-    Le Pub : électro, pop and dance
-    Le Pirate : on the water, in Crans harbor, a place of calm and serenity in the middle of the festival
-    Bar des musiciens : Only volunteers and partners are allowed in that bar.
-    Bar VIP : Privileged location for all our partners and sponsors, this access is controlled and only those with VIP bracelets or badges may access. With a magical view on the main stage, you can enjoy the concerts with a glass of champagne.
