CARIBANA'S COMITMENT FAVOURING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Here, on a magnificent venue bordered with trees near lake Léman, Caribana Festival tries since several years now to reduce the environmental impact on the venue and its accesses. By putting in place an Environmental & Cleaning Commission in 1998, newly renamed Sustainable Development (SD), the organization committee finds solutions to pursue its objectives of developing the festival in a sustainable way.

Thanks to its collaboration with waste recycling organizations and firms specialized in environment, together with the public, the volunteers, the partners and the authorities engagement, Caribana Festival can commit throughout the years, and according to its means, in steps such as:

 

  1. An environmental analyze of all the organization commissions.
  2. An optimization of the sorting of the waste for the public, the booths, the bars and the back stages.
  3. The rational evacuation of the entire waste and the repairing of the venue and its access.
  4. An ecological and economical management of water and electricity.
  5. The promotion of a public transport network.
  6. Sensitizing the public, in general, on all sustainable development matters. More likely the young public during Caribakids.
  7. Continuously looking for solutions in all domains in order to reduce the environmental impact of the festival.

A constant reflection is made on how to improve and put in place profitable actions for the sustainable development of Caribana Festival and on how to share with all actors of the festival.
