Interpol have boldly declared that they are sounding better ever despite the departure of bassist Carlos Dengler. The New York indie sensations headline the Grand Scène on Thursday 9 June.
Drummer San Fogarino recently said: “I think the band sounds better than ever. There’s a great sense of comfort onstage... It’s been 10 years, and if we didn’t sound like we do now we shouldn’t be doing it, it would be a waste of time. It would be pathetic to have a crowd spending money to see us if we weren’t at our best. I never felt so confident and comfortable than I do now.”
The Plain White T’s have just scored their third million-selling single in the US. The first single from their current album Wonders of the Younger. The song -- their first to feature guitarist Tim Lopez on vocals -- has been certified for sales of a million copies. It's their fastest-selling track to date, and their third platinum single following "Hey There Delilah" and "1,2,3,4."
The Chicago band – who play the Scène du Lac at Caribana on Thursday 9 June – feel they are now breaking free from the “one-hit wonder” label. Guitarist Lopez recently told the Charlston City Paper: I feel like our band lives in a certain niche of the market ... but I feel once we get a couple more people through the door and they see the live show, it'll change some things. I think we're starting to finally knock away that one-hit wonder title."
