NEW IN 2010

Galvanized by its 1st place at the "ecological" point price from Nice Future Attitude 2007 and 2nd in the general classification which also includes the "health and social" points, Caribana Festival reinforces once more its efforts put in place. With the support of an increasing number of our sponsors and various partners, innovating actions to empathies our public on the environment issues are yet again planned for 2010. Here is a quick overview of the most outstanding points:

TRANSPORT

• VIP, artists and sponsors transport: Half of the shuttles using natural gaz will be used for the artists, sponsors and VIP transport.

• Public transport: In order to enhance the public transports and to reinforce its sustainable development program, Caribana Festival decided to put in place its public transport project within the area together with its partner, the TPN.

• Green mobility: Save the environment!  For the first time, in partnership with Suisseroule, the Caribana Festival offers you the possibility this year to bicycle from the Nyon train station to the Festival's premises, for free.

Indeed, everyone with an entrance ticket, pass or badge will be enabled to travel freely on all the public transport network of Nyon area and the NStCM train from Wednesday to Saturday. Shuttles towards Geneva and Lausanne will also be put in place at the end of the concerts for a unique price of CHF 10.- from Thursday to Saturday (departure every hour from 12pm). Parking spots being reduced this year, we highly recomment to all our clients to take advantage of this opportunity.

CONSIGNED GLASSES

The system of consigning glasses, initiated in 2007, has been widely adopted by the public and highly contributed to the venue's cleanliness. This yeas, the use of consigned glasses at CHF 2.- is generalised. As a reminder, the advantages of this system are multiple and consequent: 

• The used glasses are recycled cleaned.
• A transport economy will be achieved thanks to on-the-spot cleaning.
• The quantity of non sorted waste is reduced.
• The venue is cleaner.
• The festival is now studying the possibility of using cutlery and dishes that can be consigned and recycled.

WE CARE

By continuing to put in place, step by step, its comitment for the sustainable development (SD), Caribana contributes to show the way to go by putting in place concrete environmental actions. To sensitize its public to all small gestures easily made by each and everyone of us, the SD commission and its ecological partners offer several ways to teach and act everyone: 

• Suggestion of Eco- comitment in the Summit Foundation- Unipoly.
• Activities around the energy theme at the S.I. Nyon booth
• Pocketbox action > a simple solution for all cigarettes ashes
• Teach how to sort waste and the value of water by S.I. Nyon.

CARIBANA'S COMITMENT FAVOURING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Here, on a magnificent venue bordered with trees near lake Léman, Caribana Festival tries since several years now to reduce the environmental impact on the venue and its accesses. By putting in place an Environmental & Cleaning Commission in 1998, newly renamed Sustainable Development (SD), the organization committee finds solutions to pursue its objectives of developing the festival in a sustainable way.

Thanks to its collaboration with waste recycling organizations and firms specialized in environment, together with the public, the volunteers, the partners and the authorities engagement, Caribana Festival can commit throughout the years, and according to its means, in steps such as:

A constant reflection is made on how to improve and put in place profitable actions for the sustainable development of Caribana Festival and on how to share with all actors of the festival.

Organization Committee

The cleaning team, the "Green Team", whose staff's t-shirts are green is easily recognizable and concretely commits to favor Caribana Festival's sustainable development. Together with our ecological partners, new solutions are searched to improve and develop the quality of the work done by our volunteers.

In order to preserve the beauty of the venue and its accesses during the whole period of the festival and until the end of the disassembling, the main tasks of the "Green team" are:

• Put in place a structure to sort the waste adapted to the needs of the many actors of the festival (public, bars, booths, back stage)
• Cleaning the venue and its accesses
• Management of the "consigned" booths
• Cleanliness of the toilets
